The Road Begins Here
The Road Begins Here
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” — Lao Tzu

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” — Bilbo Baggins

“These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”— Hebrews 11:13, NKJV

We’re all on a journey.

Some days the road feels clear and steady. Other days, it winds through valleys of uncertainty, weariness, or even doubt. But the beauty of the Christian walk is this: we’re not walking alone. We were never meant to.

That’s why I’m starting Fellow Pilgrims—a space for those of us walking together in faith. Whether you're steady in stride or stumbling in the moment, you're welcome here. This blog exists to encourage, equip, and remind us that we are, in fact, fellow pilgrims—companions on a shared journey toward Christ.

Why “Fellow Pilgrims”?

The name is more than just a play on my last name (though yes, my name really is Pilgrim). It reflects a deep conviction: that faith is not a solo expedition. It’s a shared path.

Throughout Scripture, God’s people are described as sojourners, exiles, strangers, and pilgrims. Abraham left everything to follow God's call. The early church "devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship" (Acts 2:42). Paul constantly reminded the churches to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling” (Eph. 4:1)—and to do it together.

In a world that prizes independence and self-direction, Christian community anchors us. We need shared stories, shared struggles, shared faith. That’s what this blog is about.

What You Can Expect

Fellow Pilgrims will be a mix of personal reflections, Scripture-based encouragement, lessons from ministry and fatherhood, and thoughts on walking faithfully in the midst of real life.

Some posts may come from quiet mornings with Scripture and coffee. Others may come from late nights after difficult conversations, joyful worship, or wrestling with burnout or doubt. All of it will come from a place of honest faith and a desire to strengthen the body of Christ.

Let’s Walk Together

You don’t have to have it all figured out to be a faithful pilgrim. You just have to keep walking—step by step, in grace and truth, with Christ and with others.

So, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

Let’s walk this road together.

Until the Journey is Complete,

Jonathan Pilgrim
